Contemporary Confession, 2017, confessional, 120cm x 120cm x 185cm
Beyond its function in the sacred space, the confessional in society stands symbolically for a burdened conscience, self-reflection, confession and the like. The bed is a place of rest, intimacy and dreams.
The transformation of the confessional into a bed creates an object in which historically contextualized material is combined with a new form, opening up a multitude of associations and connections to current discussions.
The work thus invites to an exchange about one’s own life practice and a contemporary way of dealing with faith, the church and oneself.
